Brunch– the perfect compromise between breakfast and lunch with an added bonus of bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s! With pillowy biscuits smothered in gravy and oversized waffles topped with every fixing imaginable, brunch in North Atlanta is sure to start your morning off on the right foot. So grab your brunch crew and get ready to enjoy some delicious southern cooking and perfectly curated drinks! Below you will find a list of my absolute favorite brunch spots in North Atlanta. Let’s dig in!
Nest Cafe (Alpharetta & Crabapple); Open daily 7am-3pm
If being voted “Best Coffee in Alpharetta'' doesn't get you in the door, their brunch most certainly will! Nest Cafe offers a decadent variety of breakfast options from croissant sandwiches to beignets and lollywaffles! You won’t want to miss their incredible list of coffee drinks and specialty mimosa’s– my favorites being their sweet rose or lavender mimosa.
Milton’s Cuisine may just be my favorite brunch spot in all of North Atlanta! Other locals must agree as it’s been voted one of AJC’s Top 10 Metro Atlanta Brunch and Breakfast Spots. Its quintessential southern charm and mouth-watering menu hits the spot every time. Everything about Milton’s Cuisine screams “family” and “comfort”, which is displayed through such dishes as their Prime Steak and Eggs and brunch style Shrimp and Grits. And as they say at Miltons, “without booze, it’s just breakfast!”-- enjoy their list of specialty drinks including their “Hair of the Hog” and “Loaded Bloody Mary.” Bottoms up!
When I moved to North Atlanta, Maple Street was the first breakfast spot I went to and holy cow, it set the tone for all the southern dishes I was about to eat! Maple Street is comfort food with a modern twist, just try their signature “Five & Dime” biscuit made with fried chicken, pecanwood smoked bacon, fried egg, cheddar, and gravy. Is your mouth watering yet?
Carson Kitchen (downtown Alpharetta); Saturday & Sunday brunch 11am-4pm
You will love the reimagined comfort food with an urban flare at Carson Kitchen! Chef, Cory Harwell, gets his inspiration from his grandmother’s southern cooking, which you will experience throughout his eclectic brunch menu. Here for some day drinking? Carson Kitchen has you covered. Enjoy drinks such as the “Sippin on Beer and Juice” (a unique mix of bloody Mary and Mexican lager) or the “Alexa, Play ‘Georgia Peaches’” (a yummy combo of peach puree, prosecco, and basil). If you’re looking for a fun, hardy breakfast, Carson Kitchen is for you!
Missing your Grandma’s traditional southern cooking? Southern Porch will make you feel like home. From double southern stack pancakes to their Sausage Scramble every dish is made love. Enjoy sitting out on the patio during the cool fall months with a cup of hot coffee or adorable signature cocktail. Fair warning… their portions are over the top!
You should definitely find time to check out this awesome breakfast spot with two great locations in Alpharetta. Never Enough Thyme provides quick service and consistently delicious food. I’m always in the mood for their reuben sandwich, no matter what time of day, but their extensive menu has everything from avocado toast to a BBQ Bacon and Cheddar burger. Don’t just take my word for it, you need to check it out for yourself!
Enjoy the cozy, welcoming atmosphere at Midway Mealhouse. Set off the beaten path, this hidden gem was an old farmhouse transformed into a restaurant. It’s a place where locals come to enjoy their favorite comfort food and sip on delicious sweet tea. The quaintness and homey feel of Midway Mealhouse makes it the perfect spot to take the family and enjoy some of the finest southern cooking in North Atlanta.
Up on the Roof (downtown Alpharetta); Brunch Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm
Now open for brunch! Come enjoy brunch with a view at Up on the Roof. The perfect spot to cure your hangover- from mega mimosas to their Hangover Burger, you’ll be feeling better in no time. Cozy up on their heated outdoor terrace with stunning panoramic views of downtown Alpharetta. It’s the perfect way to kick off your weekend!
If you’re in Roswell, you cannot miss out on brunch at The Mill Kitchen and Bar. It’s a quintessential southern neighborhood restaurant with the perfect balance of casual and elegant. Enjoy contemporary takes on classic dishes such as eggs benedict, shrimp and grits, and pimento cheese fritters. Bloody Mary lovers, you will jump with joy over their signature Mill Bloody Mary decorated beautifully with celery, bacon, and as many olives as your heart desires. Looking for something new to try? The Guatemalan Mule, which includes Ron Zacapa Aged Rum, muddled lime and mint, and Fever Tree Ginger Beer is the perfect refreshing drink to start or finish your weekend.
This list would not be complete without mentioning my absolute favorite bagel spot in all of North Atlanta. I lived in New York for many years and these bagels give some fierce competition. BB’s opened in 2007 and quickly gained a following despite their lack of advertising and somewhat uninspiring curb appeal. Their hefty, NY style bagels and variety of flavors and cream cheeses are loved by Georgians near and far. The parking is limited and the line is long, so get there bright and early before your favorites sell out!
