Fall Home Maintenance Checklist for North Atlanta Homeowners

Fall in North Atlanta means gorgeous weather, a break from summer humidity — and a short window to get your home ready before the season shifts again. 1. Clear gutters — twice. With the tree canopy across Milton, Roswell, and Woodstock, gutters fill up fast once leaves start dropping. Plan on clearing them once in early fall and again after peak leaf drop in November — clogged gutters combined with our clay soil's poor drainage is a fast track to foundation and basement moisture issues.

2. Check your HVAC before you need it. Georgia's swing from humid to cold can happen quickly. Have your system serviced now — filters changed, coils cleaned — rather than waiting for the first cold snap to discover a problem.
