Exploring North Georgia’s Top Wineries and Vineyards
Brad’s latest trip to Napa has got me dreaming of delicious wine and beautiful countryside views. Luckily for those of us in Metro Atlanta, North Georgia has some of the best wineries on the East Coast, without the hassle of long flights and expensive accommodations. From the sprawling hills, delicious wines, and expansive charcuterie boards, the West Coast certainly has some competition!

The most popular destinations for top-rated vineyards in North Georgia are located in Dahlonega and Cleveland, less than an hour trip from North Atlanta.  This area is known for having the highest concentration of wineries and vineyards in the state and is recognized as “the Heart of Georgia Wine Country”. One reason this region has some of the best grape growing conditions is because of the favorable mountainous elevations, sandy soil, and longer growing season.

After a busy summer, why not WINE down and enjoy the delicious vineyards of North Georgia. Below you will find my Top 5 wineries that are worth the drive and sure to please any wine enthusiast!

Wolf Mountain Vineyards in Dahlonega is at the very top of my list. Along with having some of the most delicious, gourmet food in the area, the views from the top of the mountain are absolutely breathtaking. If you are visiting in fall, Wolf Mountain is a must-see!

Montaluce Winery & Resort is not only for the wine lover, but also for the Italian food enthusiast. Here you can enjoy delicious wine while dining at Trattoria di Montaluce, their onsite Italian eatery and cocktail bar. With beautiful Tuscan villa rentals, Montaluce is the perfect place to relax and unwind if you’re looking to extend your trip to the North Georgia mountains.

Yonah Mountain Vineyards has a panoramic view unlike no other in the area.  This “no frills” vineyard makes my Top 5 due to the intimate experience you will receive during your visit. From walking tours of their wine caves to the intimate tasting room, you will feel like family here. Free this Labor Day weekend? You will not want to miss their favorite event of the year known as “Crush Fest”. Here you can enjoy a day of live music, wine, and endless grape stomping. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, August 27, but get your tickets soon as they will sell out quickly!

Chateau Elan, a European-inspired resort and winery, makes my Top 5 due to its prime location and high-end experience. Located in the northern part of Metro Atlanta, you will find 3,500 acres of gorgeous rolling hills filled with grape vines. From stunning event spaces, multiple restaurants, golf and tennis clubs, and a world-class spa this vineyard is perfect for any celebration.

Frogtown Cellars located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, is known for producing a variety of unique, fine wines. This highly respected vineyard has achieved recognition from wine critics and won 4 consecutive double-gold medals at various San Francisco wine competitions. Not only is the wine absolutely delicious, but their Bistro Cafe is the perfect spot for lunch or to grab some fresh cheese and goods before heading home.

The winning combination of delicious wine, breathtaking mountain views, and luxurious accommodations makes North Georgia the perfect spot for endless wine, gourmet food, and great company. Be sure to tag us @bradpoolegroup if you visit any of our top recommendations. Cheers!
