Exploring North Atlanta’s Top Country Club’s & Golf Communities

• Location: Milton 
• Schools: Summit Hill, Northwestern, Milton HS
• Special Attributes: Built in 1987, this course was designed by Pete and P.B.Dye. Located in a private, gorgeous setting surrounded by rolling hills, streams, and horse farms in the Crabapple community. Close to downtown Milton and Roswell. 

• Location: Roswell
• Schools: Mountain Park ES, Crabapple MS, Roswell HS
• Special Attributes: Built in 1972, this course was designed by Mike Riley. The 18-hole course is fun for both beginners and advanced players. Brookfield West has hosted several amateur and LPGA tour events and is a course well known to locals. 

• Location: Milton
• Special Attributes: This 18-hole course designed by Tom Fazio is part of the Capital City Club which has additional facilities in Brookhaven and downtown Atlanta, known as the “City Club”. The Crabapple location has hosted numerous golf events, including the American Express WGC, the AJGA Canon Cup and the NCAA Southeast Regional, and the NCAA Division I National Championship (2013).

• Location: Roswell
• Schools: Northwood, Haynes Bridge, Centennial 
• Special Attributes: This 18-hole championship course was voted “Best Course” in North Atlanta in 2018. It is part of the Willow Springs development which has over 700 homes. In addition, the Country Club of Roswell has the largest and longest-running Pro-Am in the south and is home to the Goldrush Member-Guest tournament. It is conveniently located close to Georgia 400, North Point Mall, and the Avalon.

• Location: Johns Creek
• Schools: Barnwell, Autrey Mill, Johns Creek HS
• Special Attributes: This course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is known not just for golf, but also its amazing tennis program which includes 21 ALTA teams.  The neighborhood encompasses 900 acres with 745 homes and is a private, gated community.

• Location: Alpharetta
• Schools: MacEdonia ES, Creekland MS, Creekview HS
• Special Attributes: The Echelon is a NEW, luxury golf community designed by Rees Jones. This course sits on 610 acres of wooded, rolling hills and lakes. It has been rated by Golf Magazine as the 11th best course out of more than 400 golf courses in Georgia. The Echelon also includes a 32 acre practice area and has been called by Golf Digest a “must play” in the state of Georgia!

• Location: Ball Ground
• Special Attributes: Designed by well-know golf architect Bob Cupp, this challenging and beautiful course was named Golf Digest’s Top 100 and often referred to as “an Augusta National for the 21st century.”

• Location: Roswell
• Schools: River Eves EM, Holcomb Bridge MS, Centennial HS,
• Special Attributes: This club was originally designed by Joe Lee in 1974, but has since undergone a massive transformation. A beautiful 18-hole golf course with four holes sitting alongside the Chattahoochee River. This club is known for its large tennis program and active social calendar.

• Location: Suwanee 
• Schools: Sharon ES, South Forsyth MS, Lambert HS
• Special Attributes: This 18-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus is known for its challenging par-71 layout and beautiful, scenic course. The gated neighborhood has over 700 homes and is an active swim/tennis community. 

• Location: Milton 
• Schools: Cogburn Woods, Hopewell MS, Cambridge HS
• Special Attributes: Formally known as the Crooked Creek Country Club, this facility was recently bought and re-branded as the Iron Horse Country Club and has many new improvements in the works! This 18-hole course features over 525 wooded acres of rolling hills and is part of a beautiful recreational community with 640 private homes.

• Location: Milton
• Schools: Summit Elem, Hopewell MS, Cambridge HS
• Special Attributes: This luxury course, located in the heart of Milton, is a Tom Watson signature golf course set in a 750-acre community. Great location, minutes from downtown Alpharetta and close proximity to GA 400, the Avalon, and Ameris Amphitheater. 

• Location: Cumming
• Schools: Vickery Creek ES, Vickery Creek MS, W. Forsyth HS
• Special Attributes:  Designed by award-winning architect Joe Lee, the course includes many elevation changes, streams, ponds and large greens.This affordable community was voted “The Best of Forsyth” for two years in a row!

• Location: Suwanee 
• Schools:’ Level Creek, North Gwinnett, North Gwinnett 
• Special Attributes: Nestled near the Chattahoochee River, this Greg Norman 18-hole course was established in 2005 and resembles a luxury mountain retreat. The club is best known for its incredible resident amenities including 4 pools, waterslides, tennis center, and kids club. 

• Location: Duluth
• Schools: Lambert ES, Riverwatch, Johns Creek HS
• Special Attributes: This 18-hole Denis Griffiths designed course (who also designed Chateau Elan and Georgia National) was voted one of the top 3 best public courses in Atlanta! It's known for its beautiful waterfalls and stone work. In addition, St Marlo also made the list of Top 10 "Best New Courses" according to Golf Digest.

• Schools: Wilson Creek ES, Autrey Mill, John’s Creek HS
• Special Attributes: Yet another Tom Fazio design, this 18-hole course is conducive to all levels of play and is extremely walkable. Members love the two-tiered driving range, plush putting green and sand trap bunker for extra practice. In addition, the clubhouse and dining area are beautifully landscaped including 2 waterfalls which make for a stunning view whether playing golf or relaxing.

• Schools: Birmingham Falls, Northwestern, Cambridge
• Special Attributes: This 18-hole course was designed by Tom Fazio and is recognized as one of the top golf courses in Georgia. The community includes large lots and is very family friendly!

• Location: Alpharetta
• Schools: Lake Windward ES, Webb Bridge MS, Alpharetta HS
• Special Attributes: A hidden gem! This course was designed by Arthur Hills and is nestled on over 3,000 acres! The Windward community includes 44 unique neighborhoods and is located near the Halcyon shopping/dining center.
